The
creation of referential architecture with strong symbolism made available by the World
Exposition constituted a central element of the Urbanisation Plan with its contribution to
the regard for and the singularity and consolidation of urban space.
The following buildings received special
importance in respect of their location and articulation with the urban structure
and which determined it to a large degree:
- TCC Tower (memory of its use).
- Oriente Station (metal and glass trees).
- Oceanarium - (theme of the Expo 98
the Oceans/an anchored liner).
- Pavilion of Portugal ( covered public square
/ tent).
- Pavilions of the Exposition Centre (city of
the imagination).
- Multi-Use Pavilion (hydroplane/space ship)
- Video-Stadium ( place of the unexpected /
ephemeral place of invention).
- Panoramic Tower (sail ship / caravel).
