The
instrumentation placed in the terrain of the Park of Nations also allows possible
residual or unexpected (accidental, not previously identified, etc.) environmental
malfunctions to be detected, making it possible, in good time, to study and adopt the
measures necessary to correct or eliminate these malfunctions.
The Supervision Plan covers
the whole of the Park of Nations and the environmental factors such as the quality
of the soil, subterranean waters, surface waters and sediments, the air, noise,
geo-technology, meteorology, biological communities and diverse socio-economic aspects.
The relevance and dimension which the
Parque Expos Environmental Supervision Plan has come to acquire has in itself
justified the creation of an Environmental Supervision Centre, installed in the
Cabeço das Rolas Garden, where all the information obtained in respect of the Supervision
Plan is centralised, also possessing a group of mechanisms which make possible the real
time consultation of the data collected in a series of devices located in the Park of
Nations. The data available so far, including that of the reference situation (before
the intervention of the Parque EXPO 1993) is compiled in the Environment
Information System. |
