This will house the expositions of the national delegations of the participating countries during the EXPO’98, while afterwards it will function as the exposition centre of the Lisbon Industrial Fair (FIL) / Portuguese Industrial Association. This vast complex comprises four exposition pavilions, a convention centre, an administrative building, a commercial gallery, restaurants, warehouses and workshops. The walls of the pavilions are made up of metal "sandwich" panels with a structural cover for shade. Some of the initiatives undertaken in terms of its Reference Terms resulted in the reduction of the air conditioning power requirement from 8 to 6 MW, providing economic and environmental benefits.
